Definition

俳優に特定の役を与えること、または誰かや何かをある方法で描写すること。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

主に演劇で使われるが、比喩的に誰かのイメージを表すのにも使われる。役名やタイプと一緒に用いる（例：cast as the hero）。“cast”（投げる）と混同しないように。
