'Buried treasure' কথাটি আক্ষরিক অর্থে (সত্যিই পোঁতা ধন) এবং রূপক অর্থে (গোপনে রাখা দামি কিছু) ব্যবহৃত হয়। জলদস্যু ও অ্যাডভেঞ্চার কাহিনিতে বেশি দেখা যায়। বাস্তব জীবনে খুব কম ব্যবহৃত।
