Definition

特に隠れていたり水中にいた後で、突然現れる・浮かび上がること。人、もの、アイデアなどが思いがけず現れる場合に使う。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

ややカジュアルで、予期せぬ出現に使われる。水面に浮かぶ以外に、『アイデアが突然浮かぶ』といった比喩的な使い方も多い。主に英・豪英語で用いられる。
