Definition
Um espiráculo é uma abertura no topo da cabeça de alguns mamíferos marinhos, como baleias e golfinhos, usada para respirar. Também pode referir-se a um buraco em rochas ou no solo por onde sai ar ou água.

Normalmente refere-se à abertura nas baleias e golfinhos ('espiráculo'). Também pode descrever buracos em rochas costeiras de onde a água é jorrada. Em geologia, significa aberturas naturais. Não se usa para humanos ou animais terrestres.
