Bir şeyi tamamen yok edip parçalara ayırmak, genellikle patlama veya çok güçlü bir kuvvetle olur.
Usage Notes (Turkish)
Hem gerçek patlama, hem de soyut anlamda fikirlerin tamamen çürütülmesinde kullanılır. Küçük kırılmalar için değil, tam yıkım için uygundur. Çoğunlukla konuşma dilinde ve 'was/were' ile birlikte görülür. 'fall to pieces' ile karıştırmayın.
