Definition

এটি কোনো কিছু আসার অপেক্ষায় উত্তেজিতভাবে ও নীরবে দম আটকে রাখা বোঝাতে ব্যবহৃত হয়, সাধারণত 'with bated breath' বাক্যাংশে। এখানে কারো দম থামিয়ে, পুরো মনোযোগ দিয়ে কিছু প্রত্যাশা করা হয়।

Usage Notes (Bengali)

প্রায় শুধুমাত্র 'with bated breath' বাক্যাংশে ব্যবহৃত হয়; আধুনিক কথায় দেখা যায় না। 'Baited' (ফাঁদ) শব্দের সাথে গুলিয়ে ফেলবেন না।
