通常以复数形式出现(the backstreets),指较小、人少的街道,多在老城区或较落后的区域。既可指实际街道,也可用作比喻,如非法活动发生在backstreets。不等同于alley(更窄的小巷)。常与'walk,' 'wander,' 'grew up in'等搭配。
