大胆なことを行う自信と無遠慮さ、ルールや他人の目を気にしない態度。良い意味でも悪い意味でも使われる。

賞賛や批判のどちらにも使われる。'the audacity to do'のように使うと、状況により良い意味にも悪い意味にもなる。
