物や動物（馬や自転車など）に両足をまたいで座ったり立ったりすること。また、何かの境界線をまたぐ意味もある。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

主に「座る」「立つ」と組み合わせて身体の動作を表現する際に使われます。特に馬に乗る場面や境界線をまたぐような描写でよく使われます。口語ではあまり使われません。
