土地や領土を自国に加えること。通常は力や公式な決定によって行われます。他にも、何かを大きなものに追加する意味でも使われます。

主に政治や歴史の文脈で使われます。「annexing territory」のような表現に多いです。元々自分の物でないものを取る、という否定的ニュアンスが伴います。
