指沒有特別目標地到處走動，或者隨意做些無關緊要的小事。有時用來形容等候或心神不定。

多用於口語和日常對話，表達無目的地活動或因無聊、等待而忙碌。不要與“stir”（攪拌食物）混淆。常以進行時表達，如 'was stirring around'。
