Resmi olmayan, daha çok samimi sohbetlerde geçer. Sıkça soru şeklinde kullanılır ('Do you get the drift?'). Sahiplik ekleriyle de ('my drift', 'his drift' gibi) kullanılabilir. Detaylardan ziyade ana nokta önemlidir.
