"make do" in Korean
Definition
충분하거나 이상적인 조건은 아니어도 현재 있는 것으로 해결하거나 버텨 나가는 것.
Usage Notes (Korean)
'make do'는 일상에서 흔히 쓰이며 'make do with~'처럼 '있는 것으로 버티다'라는 뜻으로 씁니다. 만족스럽진 않으나 어쩔 수 없을 때 사용합니다. 'make up'이나 'do without'과 혼동하지 마세요.
Examples
We don't have any juice, so we'll have to make do with water.
주스가 없으니 그냥 물로 **버텨야겠어요**.
If you forget your umbrella, you'll have to make do with your jacket.
우산을 잊었다면, 자켓으로 **버텨야 해요**.
We don’t have enough chairs, but we’ll make do.
의자가 충분하지 않지만, 그냥 **임시방편으로 할게요**.
