अक्सर गंभीर समस्याओं के लिए (युद्ध, आपदा, बीमारी) प्रयोग होता है, छोटे मुद्दों के लिए नहीं। 'live through a war/disaster/difficult time' जैसे वाक्य आम हैं। केवल 'survive' से अधिक भावनात्मक है।
