Mentalist Meaning in English
word
释义
A mentalist is a performer who seems to read minds, predict thoughts, or use mental tricks to impress an audience. In some contexts, it can refer to someone who studies the mind, but it is mostly used for entertainers.
用法与细微差别
Mostly found in entertainment and magic contexts. 'Mentalist' does NOT mean someone who is 'crazy' (despite the slang use in UK English). Don't confuse with 'psychic' (claims to have supernatural powers) or 'magician' (performs tricks, not specifically mind-related). Popular because of TV series 'The Mentalist'.
