يسمح بمرور الضوء من خلاله، لكنك لا تستطيع رؤية الأشكال بوضوح تام من خلاله. يُستخدم عادة مع مواد مثل الزجاج المحبب أو الأقمشة الرقيقة.

كلمة 'translucent' رسمية وفنية. لا تخلطها مع 'transparent' (شفاف تمامًا) أو 'opaque' (غير شفاف إطلاقًا). تُستخدم غالبًا مع المواد، السوائل أو في الأوصاف الفنية مثل 'translucent skin'. شائع مع: 'translucent glass'، 'translucent fabric'، 'translucent appearance'.
