特筆すべきもの話すほどのこと

Definition

特に目立つものや重要なものがない場合に使う表現です。要するに、話すほどの内容がないという意味。

主に否定文で『特筆すべき〇〇はない』『〜ほどでもない』の文脈で使います。肯定文ではほとんど使いません。

There was no rain to speak of last night.

昨晩は**特筆すべき**雨は降りませんでした。

We don’t have any money to speak of.

私たちには**特筆すべき**お金がありません。

There is nothing to speak of in the fridge.

冷蔵庫には**話すほどの**ものが何もありません。
