強迫某人做某事或去某地，尤其是透過欺騙或綁架。最初用來指把人強行帶到船上做苦工。

正式及歷史用語，但現今多用作比喻（例如 'shanghaied into doing' 指被強迫做某事）。和上海這城市無關，字面用法已較少見。
