動物が何かに注意を向けて耳を立てる様子を指し、人が急に興味を持って注意深く聞くことにも使われます。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

主に動物に使いますが、人にも比喩的に使うことができます。「perk up one's ears」と同じ意味です。正式な場面には不向きです。
