গণহত্যা হল কোনো নির্দিষ্ট জাতি, বর্ণ বা ধর্মের বৃহৎ একটি গোষ্ঠীকে ইচ্ছাকৃতভাবে হত্যা করা।

'গণহত্যা' শব্দটি আইনি, একাডেমিক ও ঐতিহাসিক প্রসঙ্গে ব্যবহৃত হয়। সাধারণ কথোপকথনে ব্যবহার করবেন না। যেমন: 'গণহত্যার ঘটনা'।
