Definition
削り細工は、小さなナイフで木を少しずつ削って形を作ることです。趣味や手芸としてよく行われます。
Usage Notes (Japanese)
「whittling」はレジャーや創造的な趣味、伝統工芸と関係が深いです。ポケットナイフなどシンプルな道具だけを使います。「carving」（彫刻）とは異なり、大掛かりな道具は使いません。「whittling away at a stick」＝棒を削って遊ぶ意味が多いです。
