달콤하거나 아부하는 말을 사용해 부드럽게 누군가를 설득하거나 무언가를 얻어내는 것.

'wheedle'은 달콤한 말, 아부, 가벼운 꼬임의 느낌. 'wheedle someone into/out of something'처럼 상대를 부드럽게 설득할 때 쓴다. 심각한 상황에는 잘 쓰지 않는다.

He tried to wheedle money from his parents.
