길가잊혀짐 (비유적 의미)

Definition

길가는 도로나 길 옆의 가장자리를 뜻합니다. 비유적으로는 더 이상 중요하지 않거나 버려진 것을 의미할 때도 있습니다.

주로 문학적, 묘사적 표현에서 사용합니다. 'by the wayside'(버려지다), 'fall by the wayside'(실패하다, 제외되다) 같은 관용표현이 있습니다. 일상에서 인도(보도) 의미로는 쓰지 않습니다.

We stopped by the wayside to rest.
