Competir con entusiasmo con otra persona para obtener o lograr algo. Normalmente se usa para personas o grupos que quieren ganar lo mismo.

"Vied" es formal y se ve sobre todo en textos escritos, noticias o literatura. Suele usarse con 'for' o 'with'. No es común en conversaciones cotidianas; para deportes se prefiere 'competed'. Implica mucha rivalidad por un objetivo.
