অনেক সময় ধরে চলা গুরুতর কষ্ট বা সমস্যাগুলো বোঝাতে বলা হয়। এসব অবস্থায় সাধারণত কষ্ট ও দুঃখ জড়িত থাকে।

Usage Notes (Bengali)

শব্দটি কিছুটা সাহিত্যমূলক ও আনুষ্ঠানিক। তুচ্ছ সমস্যার ক্ষেত্রে ব্যবহার হয় না। 'trials and tribulations' একসাথে ব্যবহারে কঠিন সময় বোঝায়। দৈনন্দিন কথাবার্তায় সাধারণ নয়।
