Definition
急流とは、急に強く流れる水の流れを指します。比喩的には、感情や言葉などが一気に押し寄せる様子も表します。
Usage Notes (Japanese)
水の流れを表すときや、比喩的に感情・言葉の激しさをいうときに使います。'a torrent of rain'や'a torrent of abuse'のような表現でよく使われ、遅い流れには使いません。
