雷雨の際に現れる非常に大きくて背の高い雲の上部部分です。よく嵐の前や最中に見られます。

気象の話題や表現豊かな描写で使われ、日常会話ではあまり使われません。「積乱雲の頂上」は特に積乱雲の上部を指します。
