O número 1.000; igual a dez centenas. Usado para descrever uma grande quantidade ou um número exato.

Usado para contar e estimar ('a thousand people', 'thousands of stars'). 'Thousands' é comum para grandes quantidades imprecisas. Sempre singular em 'one thousand', mas plural em 'thousands of'. Não use 'a thousands', diga 'a thousand'.
