이야기나 동화는 상상력이 풍부하거나 전통적이거나 재미를 위해 들려주는 이야기입니다. 때로는 과장되거나 극적인 내용이기도 합니다.

‘Fairy tales’는 동화, ‘folk tales’는 민담을 뜻합니다. 'Story'는 일반적인 이야기지만 'tale'은 전통적이거나 극적인 느낌이 강합니다. ‘Tell tales’는 다른 사람의 잘못을 알리다라는 의미로도 씁니다.
