とても湿っていて柔らかく、水や泥に覆われている土地を指します。沼地のような状態です。

主に土地や森、環境の描写に使います。人には使いません。'swampy ground'や'swampy area'などの表現でよく使われます。ただの「湿っている」よりも歩くのが困難な状態を表します。
