जब आप किसी बीमारी, इच्छा या ताकत के आगे अपने को हार मान लेते हैं, तो आप उसका शिकार होते हैं या झुक जाते हैं।

अधिकतर औपचारिक या लिखित भाषा में प्रयोग होता है, आम तौर पर नकारात्मक चीजों के लिए ('succumb to temptation', 'succumb to illness')। आम क्रियाओं के लिए नहीं। सामान्यतः संज्ञा या क्रिया के साथ आता है।
