何かの両側に足をまたいで座る・立つこと、または二つの分野・立場に関わっている状態を指します。
Usage Notes (Japanese)
自転車や馬、柵にまたがる時によく使います。比喩的に使う場合、「両方に関わる」「中立を保つ」という意味もあります。“straddling the fence”ははっきり立場を取らない表現です。
