Mexer-se de um lado para o outro sem um objetivo específico, ou ocupar-se com pequenas coisas sem importância. Por vezes descreve inquietação ou estar à espera de algo.

Principalmente informal, usado em conversas para descrever movimentações sem objetivo, normalmente por tédio ou impaciência. Não confundir com 'stir' (mexer comida). É comum no tempo contínuo: 'was stirring around'.
