食べ物が足りなくて苦しんだり、命を落とすこと。または、大切な何かが不足している状態も指すことがあります。
Usage Notes (Japanese)
主に食べ物が足りない時に使われますが、「starves for attention」のように何か重要なものが不足している比喩的な意味でも使われます。「hungry」よりも強い表現です。
