필요할 때 바로 사용할 수 있도록 준비해 두는 사람이나 물건. 주로 예비나 대체의 의미로 씀.

플레이어나 물건 등 여러 명이나 여러 개의 예비를 가리킬 때 주로 복수로 쓴다. 'on standby'는 대기 중인 상태를 의미.

We have two standbys in case players get injured.

선수들이 다칠 경우를 대비해서 두 명의 **대기자**가 있습니다.
