Definition

누군가가 일할 때 매우 가까이에서 지켜보거나 감시하는 것. 주로 통제하려는 의도가 있다.

상대를 압박하거나 불편하게 할 때 사용하는 경향이 있다. 주로 직장이나 가정에서 쓴다. 물리적으로 위에 ‘서 있다’와는 다르다.

The teacher stood over the student while he did his homework.

선생님이 학생이 숙제하는 동안 옆에서 **감시하고 있었다**.

My boss likes to stand over me when I am working.

우리 상사는 내가 일할 때 옆에서 **감시하는** 걸 좋아한다.
