Definition

명령이나 놀라움에 즉각 차려 자세나 경계 태세를 갖추는 것. 주로 군대에서 쓰이지만, 즉각 준비됨을 나타낼 때도 쓴다.

군대에서 명령에 반응할 때 자주 쓰이며, 빠르게 준비하는 상태도 비유적으로 표현한다. ‘stand up’이나 ‘pay attention’과 혼동하지 말 것.

The soldiers spring to attention when the officer enters.

장교가 들어오면 병사들은 **즉시 차려 자세를 취한다**.
