Definition

किसी आदेश या अचानक प्रतिक्रिया में तुरंत सावधान मुद्रा में खड़ा हो जाना। यह मुहावरा आमतौर पर फौज में और जल्दी सतर्क होने के अर्थ में भी इस्तेमाल होता है।

Usage Notes (Hindi)

आमतौर पर फौज में ‘attention!’ कमांड के जवाब में सुनते हैं, लेकिन तेजी से सतर्क रहने के अर्थ में और भी जगहों पर इस्तेमाल हो सकता है। ‘stand up’ या ‘pay attention’ से अलग है।

Examples

The soldiers spring to attention when the officer enters.
