メスの動物が子どもを産めなくするために手術を行うことです。主に犬や猫などのペットに使われます。

主にメスの動物に使います。オスの場合は「去勢」と言います。「spay and neuter（不妊・去勢）」という表現でよく使われます。人間には使いません。
