Definition

조심스럽게 조사하거나 직감을 사용해서 무언가를 찾아내는 것. 개가 냄새를 맡듯이 숨겨진 것을 발견한다는 의미.

주로 'sniff out the truth', 'sniff out a problem'처럼 비밀이나 문제를 밝혀낼 때 비유적으로 많이 사용함. 구어체에서 자주 쓴다.
