一人ひとりが前の人の真後ろに並んで移動したり立ったりする方法。横並びではなく、一列を作る。

学校や登山など、整列して移動する時によく使われます。「walk in single file」や「stand in single file」は、横並びではなく一列で動く時の表現です。
