誰かや何かを入れないようにする、または関わらせないようにすること。感情的に心を閉ざす場面や、スポーツで相手に得点させないという意味もある。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

直訳でも比喩的にも使える表現。'shut out of the room'で物理的に締め出す、'shut out your feelings'で感情的に閉ざす。スポーツでは無得点に抑える意味。
