シェラックは、木材のワックスやニス、またはポリッシュとして使われる天然樹脂です。液体状でも使われます。

主にDIYや木工で使われる言葉です。「shellac」は名詞（物質）や動詞（塗る）の両方で使われます。スラングでは「get shellacked」は惨敗するという意味です。
