分ける離す

Definition

物や人を異なる部分に分けたり、隙間を作ること。物理的に離すことや、関係を終わらせる場合にも使う。

物理的にも抽象的にも使われ、「AをBから分ける」は “separating A from B” の形でよく使う。「split」（均等に分ける）や「divorce」（離婚）とは使い分けること。

They are separating the books into two piles.

彼らは本を二つの山に**分けています**。

She is separating the egg whites from the yolks.

彼女は卵白と黄身を**分けています**。

The wall is separating the two gardens.
