意味論（いみろん）

Definition

言語における単語や表現、文の意味を研究する学問。また、言葉の意味の解釈についての議論を指すこともある。

主に学術的・言語学・哲学的な文脈で使われる。会話では「言葉尻をとらえた議論」に対して「just semantics」と言う場合もある。「統語論」や「語用論」とは区別して使う。

She is studying semantics at university.
