"segregate" in Korean
Definition
사람이나 사물을 인종, 성별, 유형 등 특정 기준에 따라 따로 떼어 그룹으로 나누는 것을 의미합니다. 물질이나 물건을 따로 떼어내는 데도 쓰입니다.

공식적이거나 법적, 사회적 맥락에서 많이 사용하며 인종이나 성별 등으로 구분할 때 특히 쓰입니다('racially segregated schools' 등). 과학에서는 물질을 따로 분리할 때도 씁니다.
