書記や書写人は、印刷技術がなかった時代に書類や公式記録を手で書き写す役割を持った人です。

主に歴史や宗教の話題で使われ、現代の職業にはほとんど使われません。「Ancient Egypt」や「中世の修道院」などについて語る場合によく現れます。
