Es común como verbo y como sustantivo: 'scare someone' y 'give someone a scare'. Suele indicar miedo repentino, no un miedo profundo o duradero. Patrones frecuentes: 'scare away', 'scare off' y 'scared of'. No lo confundas con 'scary' (que da miedo) ni con 'scared' (asustado).
