Definition

失くしたり、どこかに置いてきたもの、あるいは保管されているものを再び取り戻すこと。また、データベースやストレージから情報を取得する意味もある。

“retrieve”はフォーマルまたはIT分野で多用されます。「retrieve data（データを取得する）」など。日常では“get back”の方が一般的。'recover'は元の状態に戻すニュアンスが強いです。
