Definition

নিজের অনুভূতি ও চিন্তা প্রকাশে অনিচ্ছা; সাধারণত চুপচাপ বা অল্প কথা বলার স্বভাব বোঝায়।

Usage Notes (Bengali)

ফরমাল ও একাডেমিক বা সাহিত্যিক প্রসঙ্গে বেশি ব্যবহৃত হয়। 'show reticence', 'overcome reticence', 'her natural reticence' এর মতো বাক্যে ব্যবহার হয়। এটি 'shyness' (লজ্জা/সংকোচ) নয়—reticence মানে ইচ্ছাকৃত নীরবতা।
